Question for the Technician:
How to determine the right string length for a longbow?
Technician's Answer:
To determine the length of of a bowstring, in most cases the following guidlines can be followed:

Longbows: 2 to 3 inches shorter than the bow.
Recurve Bows: 3 to 4 inches shorter than the bow.

If you are unsure how long your bow is, you need to measure it from tip to tip on the belly/inside of the bow (the side that faces you when you draw) and follow the contours of the limbs.

If you are not making your own string, I would suggest taking the bow into your local dealer who should be able to help you string the bow and make sure the length is correct.
