Question for the Coach:
What is the recommended maximum number of twists for a fast flight string for a 68 inch recurve?
Coach's Answer:
The maximum number of twists will be before the string begins to knot up (in an unstrung position). The more twists, the rounder the string. However, the longer the string (to get more twists), the heavier it is. Many archers like to shoot with around 20 twists although most never really count. Some archers consider it on a twists/inch basis but again, most archers prefer to make a string that only needs about 20 twists to bring it to the right length and go by the brace height rather than the number of twists. A correctly created string will have about the right number of twists automatically at the the right brace height.
